Someone made the comment that Evie looks like Oski Bear, the UC Berkeley "Cal" mascot. Decide for yourselves:

Sisters Playing
Josie wants to share mommy's lap with Evie:

Evie's eyes are still blue
If Evie's eyes are going to turn brown like her sister and her mom, they haven't done it yet. This makes us wonder if she'll be blue-eyed like her dad.

Josie's Preschool
We went to the parents' orientation night at Josie's preschool this
evening, and took photos of some of her artwork hanging on the walls.
There are also some pictures that her teachers took, which were also hanging on the walls.

Great Grandparents
Evie had her first trip to Sacramento to visit her great grandparents and great auntie. The warm weather meant that she didn't have to be bundled up and swaddled... what a treat!

The day before, she made her first visit to Alameda to meet her other great grandparents.

New Family Pictures
Labor Day weekend in Oakland. We tried to have dinner outside but the combined girls' needs of potty and nursing brought us back inside pretty quickly. We managed to snap these pictures of our new enlarged family with a tripod and self-timer.

Evie wide awake
She's gaining some eyesight and can sit awake and look around for short periods of time now. She looks at light patterns. We lean in to kiss her. What a sweetie. (The first two pictures are up close and I think the wide-angle lens makes her cheeks look bigger than they really are. The third picture is from farther away with some zoom.)

Produce grown at the Albany house
Dan visited the Albany house today to do yard maintenance, and picked all this produce from the yard. Volunteer pumpkins that nobody planted, and Fuji apples from the tree we planted in late 2008 or early 2009. It's exciting that the fruit trees will be growing over the next few years and they'll have big harvests for the girls when they go back to Albany for Kindergarten.
Evie meets G'ma
G'ma Doi, Evelyn's great grandmother, got to meet her today and hold her. Evie got her middle name from G'ma's mother, Kazuko Hayashi.
