Camping in Big Basin
Our camera battery died the first day into our trip, but we managed to snap a few photos.
Walking along the short Redwood Loop trail.
Evie's in the backpack somewhere... passed out.
Josie and Dan
Nature Club program about cleaning up litter at the park. Later that weekend, Josie also did another program on animal camouflage.
Walking Practice
Evie loves to use the walker toys- back and forth and back and forth across the room. When you hold her hands to help her walk, she almost always pulls away her left hand so it's free (to grab stuff?) and like to walk with just one hand for support. This tends to make her walk a little bit sideways, but she's really getting the hang of it. Her balance has improved leaps and bounds, and in no time, she'll probably be leaping and bounding herself.

Father's Day 2013
High-flying Kite Birthday Party
Josie got to hang out with her preschool buddies at the park at the Berkeley Marina during a recent birthday party. She decorated her own kite and flew it, but of course, she was more interested in the salty snacks and yummy (and cute) cupcakes.
Swimming at Strawberry Canyon
Hot summer days mean swimming at the pool! This was our first time going to Strawberry Canyon pool (part of UC Berkeley) and we ended up signing Josie up for swim lessons there. Hurray for summer!
Summer Veggie Garden
We finally built the raised beds, filled them with ultra rich soil, and planted corn, squash, beets, carrots, chard, kale, tomatoes, basil and beans... We also planted cover crops in between the plants to help control weeds. These are some very happy vegetables (see growth from May 18 to to June 22 in these photos - the corn and tomato plants are already much higher since this photo was taken). The grass is almost fully recovered since the studio construction work and the other landscaping is starting to fill in nicely around it. The backyard is becoming the family's little urban oasis! So far, we've picked kale, basil, and a few zucchini and beets.
We also harvested the garlic from our garden plots at Lisa's grandparents in Sacramento. It's been dried, cleaned and trimmed. Ready to store for the year!
