Summer Veggie Garden

We finally built the raised beds, filled them with ultra rich soil, and planted corn, squash, beets, carrots, chard, kale, tomatoes, basil and beans... We also planted cover crops in between the plants to help control weeds. These are some very happy vegetables (see growth from May 18 to to June 22 in these photos - the corn and tomato plants are already much higher since this photo was taken). The grass is almost fully recovered since the studio construction work and the other landscaping is starting to fill in nicely around it. The backyard is becoming the family's little urban oasis! So far, we've picked kale, basil, and a few zucchini and beets.

We also harvested the garlic from our garden plots at Lisa's grandparents in Sacramento. It's been dried,  cleaned and trimmed. Ready to store for the year!
