Baby Doll

Josie's loving her birthday present from Grandma (Carolyn): baby doll and stroller. She carries the doll around, the pants always fall off, and then she holds the pants up for us to put them back on. The concept of the stroller is not completely clear to her yet, I think because she can't see the doll while she's pushing. So, she tends to hold the baby in one hand while pushing the stroller with the other.
When Colin came over to visit, he paced the house with the stroller saying, "We're going for a walk, are you coming? Come on, Jo-Jo!"

First Thanksgiving

We had a great time with the Ferrier, Hunt, and Doi families on Thanksgiving. Josie stumbled around on 2 feet most of the night, dodging the legs of many an adult, chasing after Cody, and following Colin around like he was a rockstar. She was exhausted when the night was done- and WE were exhausted running around after her! When we got home, Dan and I crashed on the floor while Josie played. We shot this video of her in her cute party outfit.

Hairstyle, cont'd

Just in case you forgot what Josie's mullet looks like, here's a pretty recent shot. Some days it curls into a single lock, but this photo shows it in its relaxed state. I know, I know, enough about the mullet!

Hairstyle Look-Alikes

Here are a few celebrities who share Josie's similar pixie/mullet hairstyle. After a year of growth, her mullet now measures 4 inches! Vote in the survey on the right side of the blog and choose the hairstyle you think looks most like Jo-Jo's. (note: Dr. Seuss character was added after the survey was created... too bad, since I think she's the closest match!).

Mutual Feeding

Josie needs something to occupy her attention when we feed her: a utensil to play with, finger food to mash, or a green tomato to gnaw. Anything novel, otherwise she'll refuse to be spoonfed. Recently she's been offering things to people, and here she offers Dan the green bean she's holding. Dan demonstrates how to sneak a spoonful into her mouth while she's preoccupied.

Speed Reader

Even more impressive, she reads just as fast upside-down!

New Coat

Josie received this polka-dot coat as a gift recently and she goes CRAZY for it. When she sees it (e.g. in a pile of laundry headed for the washing machine), she starts hyperventilating, shaking her hands, and yelling for it. Is it the cute pink buttons, the a-line silhouette or the polka-dot pattern? Whatever it is, it's triggered the fashion bug in her.

Josie and Uli

Josie spends the day with a little boy named Uli three days a week at the house. Uli is about 2 months younger than Josie, and a very handsome young man! They like playing together (well, mostly she likes to climb on him and pat his head!). Here's a video of the two of them playing with a push-button musical toy. Josie waves "bye-bye" on cue!

More Walking Today

Here's a video of more walking this morning.

Lots of Walking Yesterday

Kathryn took this video of Josephine walking across the kitchen...some of her first real walking! You can tell from her expression that Josie is excited.
